Lamine Yamal makes history as youngest to reach 50 goals in top European leagues
Lamine Yamal became the youngest player to reach 50 goals across Europe’s top five leagues after his spectacular strike against Rayo Vallecano.
Lamine Yamal continued his remarkable rise by reaching another extraordinary milestone during Barcelona’s 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano, becoming the youngest player to score 50 goals across Europe’s top five leagues.
The Barcelona forward produced the landmark moment in the 21st minute, cutting inside before unleashing a superb effort into the corner to put his team ahead.
Yamal achieved the feat at just 19 years and 49 days, moving ahead of previous record holders Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé.
The goal was also his 50th for Barcelona’s first team, another remarkable achievement considering he made his senior debut for the Catalan giants at only 15.
His progression has been rapid, with seven goals in his first campaign, followed by 18 in the next season and 24 last term.
Yamal had entered the contest without scoring in Barcelona’s opening two league matches, but he quickly ended that wait in spectacular fashion before completing his brace in the closing stages.
His second goal capped another influential performance and helped Barcelona secure a third consecutive league victory.
At 19, Yamal is already producing numbers normally associated with established superstars, while his combination of technical ability, confidence and maturity continues to make him one of the most exciting young players in world football.
