Bruno Guimaraes is expected to undergo a medical before completing an €80 million move from Newcastle United to Arsenal.

Bruno Guimaraes is closing in on a switch to Arsenal after the Premier League champions reportedly agreed an €80 million deal with Newcastle United.

The Brazil midfielder is expected to undergo a medical on Monday before signing a five-year contract, with Arsenal set to pay €70 million upfront and a further €10 million in performance-related add-ons.

According to The Times, as reported by Football.London, Guimaraes delayed his return to Newcastle’s pre-season camp following Brazil’s World Cup campaign as negotiations progressed.

The transfer would strengthen Mikel Arteta’s midfield ahead of the title defence, with the 28-year-old identified as one of Arsenal’s priority targets throughout the summer.
