Ferran Torres to avoid Barcelona return as striker edges closer to PSG switch
Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on an agreement to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, with negotiations over the transfer fee continuing.
Paris Saint-Germain are close to reaching an agreement with Barcelona for Ferran Torres, according to The Athletic.
The Spain international is not expected to return to training with Hansi Flick’s squad while negotiations over the transfer fee continue.
Barcelona are prepared to sell Torres rather than extend his contract. A renewal would reportedly require the Catalan club to pay Manchester City around €8 million because of a clause included in his 2022 transfer from the Premier League side.
The 26-year-old enjoyed his most productive season at Barcelona under Flick, scoring 21 goals in 49 appearances. He also scored Spain’s winning goal in the 2026 World Cup final, significantly strengthening his position in the transfer market.
Recent reports indicate PSG have already agreed personal terms with Torres, while Barcelona have been negotiating over a proposed €50 million package.
The French champions are now pushing to complete the deal, which would leave Barcelona needing another established striker.
