Jürgen Klopp slams Trump & Infantino over Balogun’s van interference
Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has fiercely condemned Donald Trump and Gianni Infantino following reports that political intervention led to FIFA lifting USMNT striker Folarin Balogun’s World Cup suspension.
German football icon Jürgen Klopp heavily criticized Donald Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino after soccer’s governing body controversially rescinded Folarin Balogun’s automatic one-match ban.
Speaking as a World Cup pundit, Klopp branded the alleged backroom political meddling as madness, firmly stating that individuals with no understanding of football should have no influence over the sport’s established rules.
Klopp said: “Let’s just say: this is our game, not theirs. These two people, who both have no idea about football, should have nothing to do with that. That was a red card. There’s no two ways about it. We’re sorry for Balogun because he didn’t mean to do it.”
