Lewis Hall leaves Newcastle United camp amid Man United links
Lewis Hall has returned from Newcastle United’s Spanish training camp to manage a minor injury, further limiting Matthias Jaissle’s defensive options amid Manchester United’s interest in the left-back.
Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall has returned to Tyneside after leaving the club’s Spanish training camp early to manage a minor injury.
According to The Athletic, the 21-year-old will continue his fitness work at Newcastle’s training centre and is expected to train separately on Sunday.
Hall will miss Saturday’s friendly against Valencia alongside Fabian Schär and Lewis Miley. Newcastle are hopeful the England international could return for Wednesday’s meeting with Everton or one of their subsequent pre-season fixtures.
The club has not indicated that the injury is serious. The setback comes as Hall remains a reported target for Manchester United, who are looking to strengthen at left-back.
However, Newcastle have made their position clear, rejecting United’s initial enquiry and insisting that Hall is not for sale this summer.
Hall’s absence also leaves new head coach Matthias Jaissle with limited options at full-back. Dan Burn is yet to fully rejoin the squad following England’s World Cup campaign, while Tino Livramento is still recovering from injuries.
Newcastle are expected to strengthen the position, but none of their five summer signings has been a full-back.
