Moises Caicedo fined and handed eight penalty points over 2025 offence
Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has been fined and handed eight penalty points after being convicted of driving without a valid licence and insurance.
Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has been handed eight penalty points and fined £1,444 after being convicted of driving without a valid licence and insurance.
The Ecuador international was stopped while driving an Audi RSQ8 valued at around £160,000 near Chelsea’s training base in Cobham, Surrey, in April 2025. The case was subsequently dealt with at Crawley Magistrates’ Court.
The punishment leaves Caicedo potentially facing a driving ban, adding an off-field issue to a difficult period for the 24-year-old.
Caicedo moved to Chelsea from Brighton in 2023 for a reported £115 million and has since developed into an important member of the club’s midfield.
His performances have also established him as a regular for Ecuador, with the midfielder now boasting more than 60 international appearances.
The driving case dates back more than a year, but its conclusion has now brought the matter back into the spotlight.
Caicedo’s eight points are significant because UK driving rules can impose disqualification when motorists accumulate enough penalty points, depending on their circumstances and existing record.
The midfielder has otherwise enjoyed considerable success since joining Chelsea, helping the London club win the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup in 2025.
