Newcastle Agree Deal for Amar Dedic as Benfica Reluctantly Let Him Go
Newcastle have agreed a deal with Benfica to sign Amar Dedic, a package worth around €35m including a sell-on clause, per Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sport.
Dedic has agreed personal terms on a five-year deal to 2031, and made the move his top priority, largely to reunite with head coach Matthias Jaissle, who managed him at Liefering and Salzburg.
The urgency stems from Tino Livramento’s injury, leaving a gap at right-back just before Newcastle’s Premier League opener against Liverpool on August 23.
The two clubs had been going back and forth on price with Newcastle initially offering €30m, and Benfica wanting €35m, before settling close to Benfica’s valuation which is still a discount on his €50m release clause.
Dedic made 25+ appearances for Benfica last season and is a Bosnia international who featured at the 2026 World Cup.
With terms and fee agreed, only the medical remains, he could potentially debut against Liverpool if it’s completed in time.
