Real Madrid set for €25m windfall as Liverpool hijack Victor Muñoz deal
Real Madrid will secure a total financial return of €25 million from winger Victor Muñoz following his €40 million transfer to Liverpool, which triggered a lucrative 50% sell-on clause.
Real Madrid are poised to pocket a total of €25 million from transactions involving winger Victor Muñoz. The Spanish giants initially earned €5 million when selling the academy product to Osasuna last summer.
Now, Liverpool’s impending acquisition of the 22-year-old will yield an additional €20 million for Los Blancos, thanks to a cleverly negotiated sell-on clause.
The massive financial windfall comes after Liverpool hijacked Newcastle United’s pursuit by triggering Muñoz’s €40 million release clause.
Because Real Madrid retained a 50% sell-on stake during his initial move to Pamplona, they claim half of the Premier League fee. The young Spain international is currently completing medical tests while away at the World Cup.
